As with many cake makers who venture into the world of celebration cakes, Fiona initially started cake decorating as a hobby, with family and friends being the first beneficiaries.
Her talent and artistic flair, along with years of experience working as a confectioner, and an increasing number of enquiries lead Fiona to see that there was a requirement for a high quality cake designer in the Aberdeenshire area, and Cakes by Fiona Barnett was established.
Fiona's cake designs can be seen in several issues of ' Wedding cakes - a design source', Your Dream Wedding and Wedding Ideas.
She has recently been invited to exhibit in the Wedding cake showroom at the Squires exhibition, along with some of the countries top wedding cake designers.

All the cakes are hand-baked by Fiona, and can be made in most shapes or sizes, with a variety of flavours and fillings.
In certain circumstances it may be possible to modify the recipes to suit special dietary requirements.
Unfortunately the cakes will not be nut allergy safe, as they are made in an environment where nuts are used.

Demand for by Fiona's cakes can be high, especially during the summer months, it is therefore advisable to reserve the date early to ensure that we can assure availability.
Wedding cakes are often ordered up to a year in advance, with four months being the minimum notice for fruitcake orders. This will allow the cake time to mature.
It is possible to make sponge or chocolate sponge wedding or celebration cakes in less time, but the dates required may not be available.
We will always try our best to accommodate a last minute order, but cannot guarantee the required date slot.

Opening times are currently by appointment only, but arrangements can be made for evening and weekend consultations.
Pricing: Unfortunately it is not possible to give prices for our cakes without knowing your requirements.
All cakes are custom made to order, and prices will vary according to your design.
However as a rough guide to work from, you should be looking at a price between £2.50 - £6 per serving, depending on the complexity of the design.
To determine the price of a cake, a consultation would be arranged, and the finer points of design, colours and cake type and sizes would be discussed.
